Leccino

The Leccino is one of Italy’s oldest and most cherished olive varieties, originally from Tuscany but now widely cultivated throughout the country and abroad. This variety is known for its remarkable adaptability to different climates and soils, making it an ideal choice for olive growers worldwide.
Leccino extra virgin olive oil is renowned for its delicate and harmonious flavor, featuring light fruity notes with a perfect balance of bitterness and spiciness. Its golden-green color and distinctive aroma make it ideal for raw use, enhancing dishes like fish, salads, and vegetables, as well as being excellent for various culinary preparations.

The history of Leccino is enriched by anecdotes and legends. An old Tuscan tale tells of a period of drought when Leccino olive trees began to “weep” drops of oil from their branches, a phenomenon interpreted by farmers as a sign of hope for a bountiful harvest. To this day, it is believed that planting a Leccino tree brings prosperity and good fortune.
During the great Italian migrations between the 19th and 20th centuries, many emigrants carried Leccino olive cuttings and seeds with them on their journeys to America, Australia, and South Africa. This helped spread the cultivation of the Leccino olive globally, turning it into an ambassador of Italian olive-growing tradition.
